Orfe are long, slender fish that can get up to 50cm in length and 4lb in weight. They prefer being in schools/shoals and are best displayed that way as they like to swim just under the surface of the water. Although they would naturally feed on small crustaceans, worms and snails, the orfe available to purchase from suppliers have been acclimated to eating prepared fish food. Orfe are not aggressive fish and so are accustomed to living with other species of fish such as goldfish and koi. They can live for over 20 years and are far more suited to life in larger ponds.
